10 Simple Ways to Help Your Kids Grow in Faith at Home

Growing Faith at Home

Because the most important lessons don’t always come from church—they start around the kitchen table.

As Christian parents, we want our kids to know Jesus—not just in theory, but in their hearts, their choices, and their everyday lives. But between busy schedules, homework, and screens everywhere, it can feel hard to create meaningful faith moments at home.

The good news? It doesn’t have to be complicated.
Here are 10 simple, doable ways to help your children grow in faith at home.

1. Start with Scripture at Breakfast

Read one verse together each morning. Keep it short, keep it sweet, and talk about what it means in your own words. (Hint: Kids love using dry-erase markers on the fridge.)

2. Make Prayer a Natural Part of the Day

Let prayer be a conversation, not just a bedtime routine. Pray in the car. Pray before tests. Pray when someone’s having a tough day. Let your kids see you talk to God often. Growing faith becomes more natural when children see adults praying regularly.

3. Celebrate Faith Milestones

Make a big deal out of spiritual “firsts”: first time praying aloud, first scripture memory verse, first time choosing kindness when it was hard. These little wins matter.

4. Use Faith-Filled Tools That Are Actually Fun

Devotionals don’t have to feel dry or forced. Try hands-on resources like our free Faith + Fun: 7 Days to Family Connection to bring Scripture alive through play, conversation, and creativity. These are a great way to connect!

5. Listen to Worship Music Together

Whether you're driving to school or cleaning the house, turn on uplifting music that fills your home with truth and joy. Let your kids pick their favorites, too! This practice can become a daily blessing in your household.

6. Talk About Jesus in Everyday Life

Use simple moments to share God's truth: the beauty of creation, kindness at the store, forgiving a sibling. Jesus isn’t just for Sunday mornings—He’s part of every moment. Offer guidance on how your children can seek Him in every season of life, not only at church.

7. Create a Prayer Jar or Prayer Wall

Let each family member write prayer requests and praises. Watch how your kids start to look for ways God is working in your lives. It’s faith-building for everyone.

8. Get Creative with Bible Stories

Draw it. Act it out. Build it with blocks. Faith sticks when kids can play with it. Need ideas? We’ve got loads of them in our weekly activities inside our shop at https://eachdaygrowsfaith.com.

9. Practice Forgiveness and Grace

When you mess up (because we all do), say so. Ask for forgiveness. Let your children see what humble faith looks like in action. This will help in the formation of good morals and the ability to take responsibility for one's actions.

10. Stay Consistent—Not Perfect

You don’t have to lead a perfect devotional every day. Just keep showing up with love, grace, and intention. Little seeds grow deep roots in growing faith together. Remember it's the journey that helps increase a child's devotion.
